Riverside, CA (etc.)

Etc: I am spanning almost 100 miles east-west in four days this week, looking at ten properties with Low Income Housing Tax Credits--some with additional HUD funding--for their investor, just like in Des Moines, except add about 40 degrees; it has hit over 100 degrees each day so far. Before 10am.

Heat aside, I am enjoying these asset reviews! I'm getting better insight into the development and financing side of affordable housing, and these all tend to be super nice complexes since they have bonus financing. For example, I looked at three phases of a senior community today, and each building had its own pool, hot tub and exercise room nicer than the one here at the Marriott. Um. I am also enjoying taking pictures of more than just strange Americana (though I snagged this gem today in Fontana... Jesus Saves Auto Repair? And did they borrow that car from Arab?). And I generally get to plop in a coffee shop after checking out the sites to crunch my data and label all of my pictures, which makes me feel more like a student than a working adult, and that is still very much appreciated.

This week, with all of the driving, I am especially thankful for my TomTom GPS (thanks Dad!), and my rented Ford Escape, namely for its AUX ability so that I can play my iPod. Thanks again, Dad! For giving me technology.
